Finding Strength & Stillness in Nature

Cassi Brown is a passionate archer and bow hunter who will be volunteering her skills at Valkyrie Ranch. With a deep connection to the military community through her family—she has several cousins who served in the Marines and Navy, both her grandfather and uncles served in the military and her father in law and brother in law both served as Marines—Cassi’s dedication to supporting veterans runs close to her heart.

Cassi has been in the outdoors her whole life. Her husband, Lane, and stepson Wyatt are also avid hunters and anglers. Her journey with archery accelerated when she bought her first bow in 2012. Since then, she has devoted herself to bow hunting, embracing the entire process from scouting and tracking game to processing the meat and sharing meals with her community. For Cassi archery and bow hunting are more than just skills, they represent a way of life that teaches patience, focus, and the importance of being present in the moment.

Cassi has also been previously involved in the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP), where she has taught students from 8th to 12th grade the fundamentals of archery. Her work with young archers has shown her the profound impact this sport can have on people, helping them to relax, clear their minds, and enjoy the camaraderie of being outdoors.

Currently living in Texas, where she’s lived for just six weeks, Cassi met the Valkyrie Ranch team in Yuma, Arizona, and was immediately drawn to their vision. Inspired to honor her Marine cousins tragic passing- and her desire to help veterans find healing through archery, she decided to join the Valkyrie Ranch family. Cassi finds the most rewarding part of teaching archery to be guiding others as they slow down, focus, and connect with the present moment. Her dedication to sharing this experience with veterans and her love for the outdoors shine through in every lesson she gives.

When she’s not teaching archery, Cassi enjoys spending time with her husband and 17-year-old stepson, Wyatt, and her two-year-old German shorthaired pointer, her loyal bird dog companion. At Valkyrie Ranch, Cassi is excited to combine her passion for archery with her commitment to supporting veterans, helping them discover the peace and fulfillment that comes from this incredible sport.
